What is Myofunctional therapy?
An Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder (OMD) occurs when the oral muscles, including the tongue and lips, don’t function to their full potential. This can impact various aspects of life, from eating and chewing to sleeping and breathing. OMDs may develop from birth, like a tongue-tie, or over time due to poor oral posture.
Without early diagnosis and treatment, OMDs can lead to the development of harmful habits like open mouth posture, mouth breathing, tongue thrust, and reverse swallowing. Our team is here to prevent and treat these issues with empathy and expertise. When caught early, OMDs are easily treated; however, adults can also benefit from myofunctional therapy.
